Seller went crazy!

I want to justify this by saying that I screwed up and I admit to the error and take full responsibility for it. I was bidding on several hard drives about a month ago and ran a snipe on one item. I won the item and did not receive notification about it. Apparently the emails were in the yahoo spam folder and I did not follow up on things very well and missed that I won the item. I did not log in to eBay for a couple weeks and when I finally did I found that an unpaid item claim had been filed against me. OK, I screwed up. Now I felt I needed to make things right since I know the seller lost money on this. I emailed the seller a very polite apology and offered to pay the fees they lost as a result of my not paying. I also tell him that I am not interested in having the strike reversed. My only concern is that I make him whole for his losses. The response from baltag Yeah right! Trying to cause more problems I see! So I am thinking that if I call this guy and express my sincere apology and let him know that I am not some numpty non paying bidder and would like to compensate for his losses maybe he will not be so upset. I thought that if he heard me on the telephone he would hear the sincerity of my concern for his losses and the sincerity of my remorse. I call his contact number, get a lady that I assume is his wife and have a very nice conversation with her and apologize to her for him. She was very polite and understanding and stated that she would relay my message to him and he would call me back when he returned. About an hour later he called me and I very cheerfully greeted with a "Good Afternoon" The guy went ballistic! Started yelling at me and never gave me another chance to speak! Screamed at me why I called his home! I tried to answer that I was calling his eBay contact number and he cut me off and refused to give me a chance to finish my sentence! Screamed at me who I thought I was to mess with his listings! When I tried to explain that I made a mistake he refused to let me finish the answer that I was not trying to mess with his listings, otherwise this would not have bothered me to the point of attempting to fix it. The guy was a total jerk, shotgunning questions at me and never giving me a chance to answer. Then he kept saying over and over again, talking over me "Don't contact me again! You got that clear?!?! Are we clear with that?!?!" So I finally said, Sure pal, you obviously have issues that I can not come close to dealing with. I am sorry I caused you so much trouble! He bluntly hung up! I understand that 95% o the Unpaid Items/Non-Paying Bidders are disingenuous people that do not care but regardless, why in the world would someone go so ballistic when someone admits they made a mistake, attempts to apologize and offers to reimburse for the damages?|||"damages" Did you pay for the auction win? You should have unless told not to do so by the seller. I have never thought that calling a buyer or seller was a good idea.|||You tried to make it right which was really nice of you! It seems obvious the seller has other issues from what you posted! You did your part, he declined... so I would just let it go! nosport is right also...I don't want buyers contacting me via telephone! It seems a bit creepy!"Well, I never heard it before, but it sounds uncommon nonsense." Mock Turtle|||"damages" Did you pay for the auction win? You should have unless told not to do so by the seller. I'm assuming by this point, the OP couldn't pay since the case was closed and they were issued a strike. OP, once you didn't respond, ebay issued the seller their FVF's back anyway. All they were out was their listing fee which was probably a few dollars or less. It stinks when a seller is left with this, but you tried to make it right and they obviously didn't want to listen to you...oh well for them...|||You certainly went way above what I think most people would do. I can only assume this seller has issues and problems you will never know nor care to know. At this point, if it were me, I'd just drop it. I might even just take the strike so as not to have deal further. Call me paranoid, but I'd be afraid of what might be sent.|||OP - You should never rely on notifications from Ebay. It often slow or never get send out. You should always check directly in your Ebay account to see if you have win an item.||||||We are making a lot of assumptions for an OP that has disappeared.|||||||||||||||||||||
