Blocking Sellers?
I have read so many topics in here about bad Sellers it's rediculous, we all know Ebay has a source for blocking bad Bidders so why not bad Sellers!!! Just read through these topics, bad Sellers run rampant and free on Ebay to do as they wish with minimal recourse for there actions. The only thing I did not notice in here was bogus Seller ads, another major problem on Ebay (and any other auction site). Bogus Sellers have ads for, lets pick on automotive since it is my favorite shopping place, "Electric Superchargers and or electric turbo's" with claims that can not be substantiated even by the worst possible testing methods. Why can't the BUYER, whom makes all of Ebay possible (no Buyers, no Sellers!), block Sellers that they see are bogus, or have had negative transactions with? Why is the Seller so protected??? A while back I sent an email to Ebay on this subject, I received the typical Ebay auto response and now believe the email to be in email trash. This is a legitimate request! Sellers will not be so inclined to create false and or misleading adds to dupe the BUYER nor will they want to continue with poor business practices as this forum describes in great detail! Regards Rick Stanich|||Rick, Is this a cry for help? Do you suffer from some affliction that prevents you from not bidding on auctions listed by "bogus" sellers? When you have the overwhelming urge to bid, call someone. You can also go to the P&S boards. There are many there with similar problems.|||A cry for help? Regards Rick Stanich|||Does your back button not work? That is all you need as you are the one who controls whether or not you make a purchase. The feature is in place for sellers because it is the only way they can prevent certain users from bidding on their items. I hate to say this, but it is the sellers that make ebay and not the buyers. If you develop and properly promote a marketplace where basically anything can be purchased below market price, the buyers will come to you. However, if there are no sellers, all the buyers in the world won't help you.------------- Your time is valuable - make sure your handling fees reflect this.|||Your missing the point. The Seller can block any buyer they want, even if the buyer is right. Well then, why can't the buyer block the seller from there searches? The sellers do not make Ebay, if all the buyers on Ebay went some where else so would the sellers (analogy). If all the sellers left Ebay, more sellers would take there place! Its like a store on any street in any city, if there are no buyers the store will not be there for long. Also, barely anything on Ebay is below market price  I simply find Ebay convienant to buy products, I base my purchases on this convienance. It still stands, if a buyer doesn't want to see Xseller, then we should have the choice of not seeing Xseller. This isn't about buying, or all of a sudden not wanting to buy after you confirmed. I am one of the most honest Ebayer's I know. If I make a mistake buying, I complete the transaction. I pay immediately and I leave honest feedback. Buyers like us should have choices just as the Sellers have over buyers. Regards Rick Stanich|||Rick, You're also missing the point - you can choose which auctions you bid on; a seller cannot choose who bids on their items. Your back button gives you all you need to keep from buying from bad sellers. If you want to eliminate certain sellers from a search, you can do so by an advanced search. As for items being below retail, I'm not sure where you are looking, but everything I sell is well below retail (electronics). If there weren't, buyers would simply order off of bestbuy.com or amazon.com.------------- Your time is valuable - make sure your handling fees reflect this.|||Right, I choose which auctions I bid on, that is not the POINT! Your a seller, you won't see things from the buyers eyes. Why can't the buyer choose what sellers they do not want to see. A seller can choose by "blocking" a buyer. "Use the following tools to manage which users can or cannot bid on, or buy, your items." Block "Bidders/Buyers" link. Link Allthough the buyer can still see the seller, the buyer is basically banned. Again, this is not about "Oh drat, I chose seller I do not want to do business with and now I have to buy the product, Geez I wish I had used the back button!". Simply ELIMINATING the seller from searches would be beneficial to good sellers. As a seller I can see why you would argue this request (read request). (oh yea, I'm not pickinig on you! Just voicing my opinion while listening to yours) Happy Holidays (before we yell at each other) Regards Rick Stanich|||Simply ELIMINATING the seller from searches would be beneficial to good sellers. What criteria do you feel should be used to eliminate "Bad" sellers from searches? -Sellers over (100) feedback? How is that fair to buyers under (100) feedback? If only sellers over (100) feedback show up in the search results, how can a new seller get started if noone sees their items? -Sellers over a 98% positive feedback rating? how is that fair to a new seller who may have received a neg early on. A seller with 30 feedback rating with one neg has a 96.7 feedback rating. How does that make them a "bad" seller? Maybe that neg came as a retaliatory neg as a bidder when they left a neg on a seller. So again, what constitutes a "bad" seller and how do you propose to eliminate them from search results without eliminating the good sellers who show the criteria of a bad seller? My thoughts are that the term "bad seller" is purely subjective, and is no way quantifiable, therefore is no way searchable. You know one when you see one, but no computer is able to calculate a "bad seller". Purely subjective.|||One other question, how can you determine if a seller is "bad" without reading the text in their feedback profile?|||Rick, are you looking to block specific sellers or ones that fall in specific categories (low FB, under a certain FB %, high shipping cost)?------------- Your time is valuable - make sure your handling fees reflect this.|||Sellers deny buyers with low feedback, but who cares because that is not the point! If "I" have bad experiance with a "certain" seller and do not want to be bothered with them anymore I should be able to block them from my searches, some what the same as the seller blocks a "certain" buyer. If "I" see sellers who continuously post bogus adds I do not want to deal with them in any way. As a note; "I" is any individual. Example: Yseller posts ads that are deceiving, IE, $6.00 Buy It Now with $150.00 shipping that will really cost $20 bucks. That is deceiving and I would not want to buy from Yseller. Now I have the option of blocking Yseller from coming up in any searches. There is nothing to do with feedback, percentages, negative ratings etc, it would be the individuals decision to add which ever seller to there "blocked" list if they deem it necessary. Quit reading between the lines. This isnt rocket science, this is not global per say on Ebay. It is up to the individual, the same as it is for sellers. Regards Rick Stanich|||The criteria is up to the individual. If they develop there own system or methodology, then so be it. Next topic will be for spell checker Regards Rick Stanich|||Advanced search allows you to exclude specific sellers from your search results.|||I agree. There should be an area in My eBay that lets you put together a list of blocked sellers. People you don't want turning up in you searches. Not becaue I need someone to stop me from bidding in their auctions. Because I am tired of having to sift through hundreds of their listings to find things from people I do want to buy from. I think good sellers would support this as well, because it would help people find their auctions. I get frustrated sifting through listings with $.99 starting prices and $10 shipping and just give up looking. Those are lost sales.|||redordead Advanced search allows you to exclude specific sellers from your search results.
