Hi All,

Newcomer to forum.

Having problems downloading new apps in iTunes.

In iTunes apps section, click on Get App , message at top of screen starts showing "accessing iTunes store" with thev revolving black/white strip.

Havent had problem previously , downloaded approx 50 apps since purchasing new ipod touch 64GB 4 weeks ago.

Is this a problem connected to new version.

Very annoying as cannot download any apps, havent tried with music.

Will I get charged again for music I ...

I have bought 3 albums and about 10 songs through my iPod Touch iTunes app. I am trying to redownload my music because about a week ago by iPod crashed an I had to do a full restore. I will take me a longgg time for me to resync everything (computer with music is very slow), so I'm trying to get it straight through my iPod. It says "You have already purchased this item. Would you like to buy again?". I have downloaded paid for apps without getting charged, will it charge me again for by music?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Strange Multiple Account Issue ...

Ok, so I use two iTunes accounts. I buy most of my applications on one account however I bought a few apps on the other account, and now iTunes thinks all my apps were bought on the account. So now it won't let me update any of the apps I purchased on my other account because it prompts me to sign into the account they were not purchased on. Any solutions for this?

Bad Audio Quality in Purchased Videos ...

I recently downloaded both a TV show episode and a rented movie from the iTunes store. The TV episode plays fine on my iPod, and fine on iTunes for a few minutes before the audio and video get out of sync. The rented movie does the same thing and, of course, I can't put it on my iPod, so I'm having to pause it for several minutes at a time. When I play it again, it works fine for a few minutes before the audio and video once again get out of sync and I can see what the characters are saying before I actually hear it. Could this be some sort of iTunes error? It's never happened before, and it's not happening with any other videos on any other media playing program.

Hello you guys,

I've just moved in to US last month from Brazil, and I was trying to install some app from the Apple Store for my Iphone.

But since I got a brazilian account, I was only able to buy brazilian apps. I tried to change my acc to US, but since I don't have an US credit card, I wasn't allowed to.

I only got my brazilian credit cards because in a year from now I'll go back to Brazil, I'm only here to study. So there is no point on making an US card.

What can I do about this? Is it possible to create an US account with my brazilian credit card?

slow downloads ...

I'm tring to download a rental from the itunes store, but even though I have high speed internet it's going to take me 7 hours to download a 1.6 gig movie. Thats too slow, before it only took an hours with itunes 8.

Also when I try to preview a trailer in the store, the video refuses to appear.

Please help, tried reinstalling and that doesn't help. Also would it have something to do with Bonjour on?

Errors logging into the iTunes store ...

Ok so when I try to sign in I receive the message "We could not complete your iTunes store request. A secure network connection could not be established. Check that your computers date and time are correct and try again."

I click on Account in quick links and receive the (-1202) error.

This has been going on for weeks. Been reading through the forums and tried many different suggestions. Proxy is not checked. Tried the suggestion that involves making a copy of host in system32 and erasing everything in it. Tried downgrading to iTunes 8.2 with the same problems. upgraded again to 9.0. I checked and rechecked my computers date and time several times and it is correct. I use a wireless router which is on a secure password protected network.

The list goes on and on. No luck with anything I have tried. I can't even remember everything I have tried since I have been trying for over a month to fix this.

If anyone knows what the problem is please please please help. This all started when I downloaded 9.0. The other computer on my network has no problems connecting to the store. Thanks.

Help! I bought an album, but It is not ...

Ok so here is my problem.

Yesterday I bought an iTunes gift card of 15 dollars. I used my iPod touch to redeem the card.

Then, I used my sisters computer, opened up iTunes, clicked on "Store", searched for "FlowerPower" album, clicked on "Buy Now" and then there was a pop-up that said "You'r account is unavailable, try later" (Or something like that, I can't really recall). So after waiting for about 5 minutes I tried again, pressed buy now, press yes when it asked me if I wanted to buy it, and then it said that my current balance had not been updated. From 15.19 My balance went back down to 0.20 cents.

The album was not downloading or anything, I tried the "Check for available downloads" method but iTunes said that I had already downloaded all my purchases, which wasn't true.

I checked my purchased history and it said that my last purchase was on October 26th, which also wasn't true since I bought that album yesterday.

So to put it in one sentence, I bought an album (I did because I lost the money) but it is nowhere to be seen for download, or nothing specifies I even purcahsed it when I DID.

I really need some help, because it feels like I just threw my 15.00$ dollars away...

I pre-ordered the new Creed cd, and it was scheduled to be released tomorrow the 27th. I couldn't wait for it, so I did the complete My Album thing today since it was available...why wait right? Now do I have to cancel that pre-order so it doesn't download again? I don't need two copies of it.

Part 2 of the question is that there is a song called The Silent Teacher that only is available through the pre-order. Well, I did pre-order, but then I completed it early, so do I not get that song now? It didn't download when I did the complete My Album feature.

Itunes Store Language Jibberish ...

It seems that my Itunes Store is showing the language as jibberish. Lots of "@" symbols and nothing is readable. I reinstalled already and checked my language support, but nothing seems to be wrong. This happened when I upgraded to version 9.

duplicate downloads with purchases from ...

It seems that if I purchase a TV show season on the Apple TV the download starts. So far so good.

Later that day I start iTunes on my desktop and all of a sudden those same shows start downloading again on from the store into my itunes library. This is unexpected.

What is expected is that the Apple TV would do the download, and then sync to my desktop library when the two are online at the same time.

Can somebody explain if this behaviour is expected from AppleTv and iTunes.

I'm not sure how interest anybody else was in the Getting info option of the Right-click menu, but I am, especially when I need to make sure I have the correct information from the iTunes store to my iTunes.

For example, if iTunes 9 came out a few months ago, before I ripped my Now 29 CD I wouldn't have gotten the Album artwork without knowing that 'Various Artists' goes into the Album Artist field. But that's not my point.

My point is, knowing the music information for a song is important when ripping a CD doesn't provide all that information (Composers, Genres).

I was just wondering why this option was taken off.

Will Itunes/Apple EVER allow other countries other than the US to purchase music, TV shows etc? I live in South Africa and the itunes store only consists of an app store... I use an iphone 3G as well, and love Apple....

I don't have a credit card, and I don't plan on ever getting one, unless someone puts a gun in my face and forces me to, and even then I'd probably prefer death...

I am aware of the existence of clickandbuy, and of iTunes cards.

Neither of those offer me a payment option that isn't credit cards. Clickandbuy stubbornly refuses to authorize iTunes for easy collect, unless i couple a credit card to my account (see paragraph 1 as to why this is impossible). And iTunes cards are only available in the Apple store (another brilliant marketing ploy no doubt!) which basically only accepts credit cards.

So what is this like a tripple redundant system to accept payments via credit card? Or am I just blindly missing the huge button labelled "click here if you are not a hamburger scoffing, credit card hoarding, financially reckless yank and want to buy our crap anyway"?! O.o

I've always burned my purchased CDs into iTunes using a AAC 320 kbps and 48.000kHz. Now when I select that option in iTunes 9 I'm getting a "The selected combination of bit rate and sample rate is not allowed." pop up screen. So is it impossible to burn my albums in a 320kbps/48.000 AAC format?. I had no problems in previous versions of iTunes using this setting. I guess I might have to switch over using a MP3 import setting instead.

everything goes fine until it's time to move the selected material to "new playlist from selection," which stubbornly stays gray. previously, it's been black and the process was a piece of cake. any suggestions? a related question: under playlists, the "recently added" listing has vanished. is there a way to retrieve that?

I recently started to take some of my older cd's and added them to my Itunes library. They all loaded fine and saw song titles through gracenotes. However, when I went back to play them i get a messsage "My Generation" ccould not be used because the original file cannot be found. would you like to locate it." the option of locate or cancel comes up.

If I look in the folder My Music I see the file.

hello...can anyone please help? : I got a new computer and downloaded ipod and purchased a few tunes, then when i connected my ipod, it won't load my existing ipod to my new computer without it asking me to erare all 2000 songs in my ipod. i deleted itunes on both computers and reloaded it and it still won't take my ipod with 2000 tunes in the new computer. itunes will come up but ask me to delete my ipod and it's 2000 songs....can anyone please help? thanks!!!

So here's the deal. First my home computer crashed, with all my library's music and what-not, but it wasn't such a big deal because with the iphone I could just continue downloading music off of the iphone. Everything was dandy. Then my iphone broke (haha) and needless to say life could not continue on so dandy. So I got a new laptop and downloaded itunes, entered my account info, and all my purchase history is there, everything, only I can't re-download it...Or I just don't know how. I just got a new iphone in the mail (empty of course) and I'm just wondering if it's possible to re-download my already purchased music off my account, or if I've screwed up by not creating back-up. I Deleted "Recently Added" and then ...

This is a long story, and I apologize in advance - but in order to get an answer, I have to lay out everything that happened. Bear with me.

I am new to Ipods and iTunes. I have five or six CD's that contain about 1,000 songs which I downloaded from Napster in the early 1990's - back when Napster was both free and illegal. Anyway, I imported three of these CD's into iTunes and then synched my Ipod so that all of the songs are now on my Ipod.

I then imported a commercial CD (the original cast recording of Spamalot). I noticed that the tracks from Spamalot were scattered randomly in among the 600 or so tunes in my Music Library. I had to painstakingly sort through my entire library and pull the tunes out in order to put them into the playlist I had created for them called (you guessed it): Spamalot.

I wondered if there wasn't a better way. I wanted to see if I could create the playlist and then simply import the CD into the playlist. I was told that could not be done - but all I needed to do was look in the "Recently Added" playlist and they should all be there, ready to schlep into the Spamalot playlist quickly and easily.

The only problem with that was, that every song in my Music Library was already in my Recently Added playlist, so that didn't solve the problem, because I had to hunt through all those songs just the same as I had to hunt through all the songs in my Music Library.

So, I reasoned, the thing to do was to purge the Recently Added playlist before importing anything so that, when a CD such as Spamalot was imported, the only thing that would appear in Recently Added was the CD itself. I figured the way to purge the Recently Added playlist was to delete everything in there. I tried to do that, but could not find a way - iTunes, apparenly, won't let you delete songs in the Recently Added playlist.

So I simply deleted the entire, Recently Added playlist by right-clicking on the Recently Added playlist title and then hitting Delete. My thinking was that I could then recreate it and that, when I did, it would be empty and ready to receive only the songs that I added on any given occasion.

I was able to create a new, "Recently Added" playlist in the same manner you create any playlist. Only one problem - now, when I import tunes, nothing appears in the Recently Added playlist.

Did I mess up when I deleted Recently Added? How can I get back to where I was when I first downloaded iTunes? Recently Added worked just fine then. Am I going to have to uninstall/reinstall iTunes? Tell me there is an easier way.

Getting the right Gracenote's track ...

I am importing a CD. It offers me two different track lists from GraceNote's database. I don't know which is the correct one, so I select the first. Umfortunately, it is the wrong one. http://The tracks are in a different order in my CD - one list is the European release, the other is the American release.

I delete the tracks, then try importing again. However, this time, it only offers me the same list I used last time.

How do I get it to use the other list?

Smart Playlist Creation Question - Rule ...

I want to have newly imported songs go automatically into a playlist (Recently Added), from which I can move them into a playlist of their own. I then want to be able to CLEAR the Recently Added playlist so that I can then import a SECOND group of songs which will automatically go into the Recently Added playlist, where they will be the ONLY songs there because the first group of songs will have been CLEARED.

I inadvertantly deleted my Recently Added playlist, so that is not available to me - I have to, in effect, create my own Recently Added playlist.

The problem I am having has to do with the Smart Playlist Rule Parameters needed to accomplish what I am trying to do. I have been able to set up a smart playlist that receives newly imported songs automatically. However, I seem to be unable to CLEAR the songs from the smart playlist to make way for a SECOND group of newly imported songs.

I thought I could get the job done by simply deleting the entire Smart Playlist that contained the first group of songs, and then creating a new Smart Playlist to receive the second group. You can do that - but the problem is that the minimum time you are allowed to assign is one day. This means that when the second group of songs goes into the second smart playlist, it will also "grab up" and include the FIRST group of songs, assuming that the groups of songs are all being imported on the same day. I don't want to limit myself to importing only one group of songs per 24-hour period.

(When I import groups of songs, I import them in very, very large groups, which is why I want to be able to deal with them in individual groups, rather than having to sort through the larger, general Library of tunes in order to put them into their own playlists.)

It seems to me the answer lies in being able to set up a Rules Parameter that shortens the time involved from one day to something like 15 minutes or so. I don't know how to do that, even assuming that it can be done.

Or, perhaps, someone might have another suggestion that would help me accomplish my goal here.

Some musics missing on iTunes ...

Hi all!
I'm just a recent user of iTunes.

I updated all my music to it, without problems. But meanwhile I run into a small issue: some musics (mp3 files) are missing on iTunes.

I did not move or edit them. iTunes just doesn't recognize them. I tried to add them manually to iTunes, but they don't appear on the library. Tried to convert them to .aac and then add but it didn't work either.

Some of the files missing are from an album with about 11 songs. 3 are on iTunes. The others aren't. This happened for at least 15 songs.

Any suggestion?

Certain songs wont import ...

This topic has probably been discussed ad nauseum online but it is driving me crazy.

I had apporximately 26gb of music all with correct ID3 v2.4 tags, the only tags which were filled were Artist, Album, Track Title, Track Number, Album Art, Year and Genre. All others were blank.

Itunes would not import any of these files, after some research I seen that it was because I was using ID3 v2.4. I backed up the tags, removed them all and applied them back on as v2.3 (minus the year, genre and album art).

Itunes then imported about 19gb of the files.

Some albums werent imported but itunes did not import anything past the letter R. Red Hot Chilli Pipers to be precise. (Not a mis-spelling, Scottish pipe band :P).

I picked out one file which I know wasnt imported and tried to play it in Quick Time which worked with no issues. I tried an MP3 repair tool but this did not find any problems.

Any ideas as to what could be stopping them from importing.

All files are DRM free MP3s and they all play in Winamp.

Grey info issues ...

So recently just purchased a new computer and planned on importing my musice from my external hard drive to my itunes. I went to do it and all the music played but went to change some info on the songs and they were all grey. This never happened on my old dell. Does it have to do with my new computer? is it something that easily fixed? I just put a new cd on it and then imported it through the external hard drive and i was able to view and change info if i pleased. Any help would be great!

I recently borrowed my friend's Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST CD and put it on my iTunes. I successfully got it onto my iTunes and into my iPod when I realized something; there were about 5 of the GTS Albums in my iPod (5 of the same album). Looking through them, I confirmed that each of them were the same; same songs, same order, same album artwork, same everything. I decided to go back to iTunes to fix the problem, and that's when I saw the real problem. The 5 albums were there in iTunes as well, however they were all split up by artists (One album would have the 2 songs by artist A, the next had the 3 songs by artist B, and so on). What can I do to fix this?

I recently got a new hard-drive for my computer, and I also changed my email in my iTunes account. Now, iTunes is asking me to authorize my old songs with my old account email. How can I move an album purchased from ...

I have three user accounts on my computer at home. I purchased an album through MY user account from the iTunes store for one of the other users. I figured that all I had to do was to burn those songs from my user account onto a cd then go onto the other user's account and import the songs. Problem is, it DID import the songs, but without song titles (i.e., "track 1, track 2..."). What to do?

Error 4251? ...

So, half the time, while I am burning a disc, an error message pops up saying "An unknown error has occurred (Error 4251)", and the disc will eject. Sometimes I can put it in a CD player, and it will play, but will be really staticky, especially towards the end. Sometimes, even if there is no error message, when it says my disc is finished, I will put it into a CD player, and it will still be staticky. Any way to fix this?

Got a new computer - how do I 'import' ...

I had a disaster a couple years ago when my hard drive went out on me. I re-installed i-tunes, hooked up my i-pod and it deleted ALL of my music without any chance of me getting it back. Since, I've created and bought a lot of new music but it's on an old laptop. I have downloaded i-tunes on my new computer, but am wondering how I can get the library on my old computer over to the new one without losing all of my songs! Any help appreciated!!

All CD/DVD operations slow ...

Hi,

I'm a new iPod owner and am NOT happy with what itunes 9.0.1.8 has done to my PC (Vista x64, 8 gigs RAM). All CD/DVD operations or horrendously slow. After I insert a CD or DVD, it will be 5 minutes or so before the icon changes to match the type of CD and the CD becomes usable. Any attempts to access the CD/DVD before then will cause Windows Explorer to hang. It appears as though iTunes has decided that it wants to own the drive; this is not good behavior.

The only way I have found to have the CD/DVD drive act normally is to have the CD inserted in the drive when the PC is booted. Obviously, this is only good for the first CD.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix?

Finally after multiple itune upgrades I can now burn CD's again! Now all that music I purchased is no longer wasted. Thank you for hard work on a "free" product.

I just installed the most current version of ITunes (9.0.1.8). When I put in a CD, ITunes used to recognize it and ask me if I want to import it ... now nothing happens. I checked the options and they still say "ask before importing". I can't even play the CD ...

I downloaded iTunes yesterday and when my library imported, I noticed I was missing quite a bit of music.
I went to 'Add Folder to Library' to add the particular folder the missing music was in, and it downloaded a few songs I didn't have but still left the rest. I tried importing the missing songs file by file, and they import just fine. Why does iTunes skip over them when I try to import the folder, but let me add them on their own?
I have a TON of music and I really don't want to have to sort through it all and figure out which ones imported and which ones didn't so that I can import them all single file by single file...

Also, iTunes started to process my album art, but my computer crashed. After I restarted, I tried to get it to start importing the album art again, and it just won't. How can I get it to import the album art?

Hi,
my computer was recently stuffing up so i backed up all my data on my external and reinstalled windows on my computer.
That fixed the computer but now when i add my music into itunes, it will not add quite a bit of my music files and folders.
It just misses them out and does not show them in itunes.
They all work perfectly fine in windows media player and all use to on itunes before but now they just wont add.
What is wrong here??

Gapless audio cds do not work in newest ...

I downloaded the newest version of itunes and gapless audio cds are not working for me.

The first two tracks of a cd that I would like to burn are supposed to go together(that's how they were on the original cd I bought). I wanted to make a playlist of some different songs for a roadtrip and everything went smoothly. Except when the cd was done, I tested it and there was a slight gap between the first two songs even though I specified no gap. I used a memorex cd and haven't had that problem before. I also used the new ones that they are manufacturing. I tested the two tracks(from the playlist and not the cd) on winamp and they are infact gapless like they were supposed to be. So I went back to my playlist(on itunes) and played the songs. There was a small gap like the on the burned cd so I played them again. Weirdly, there wasn't a gap that time. It seems that every so often, there will be a small gap.

I checked and made sure there were no gaps in the settings, in 3 different media players, the two songs go together gaplessly like they should, but itunes keeps adding a very small gap. Also, how do I send this bug to apple?

I have only just downloaded my first album from Itunes. I decided to use Itunes because I noticed I could get my music in Apple Lossless format... I'm against anyone selling albums at below studio format as mp3, aac etc.

So I bought and successfully downloaded the album. Then I clicked 'Create Apple Lossless Version'. However, instead of downloading the files again, in full Lossless format, it simply converted the 256kb/s AAC files into FAKE Apple Lossless! I think that STINKS!

Anyway I deleted the original files and left the lossless ones... then I realised they were mixed up, (some lossless and some not) so I had to delete them all from the library and re-download them.

However when I go to the purchase bar... there is nothing there! I am very, very displeased... I used up my nectar points which cost me hundreds of pounds in shopping to get some Itunes cash for this... and now they disappear? My TV program is still there... which I have downloaded previously multiple times... so why not my music!

Just to note there is a further worry with my TV show... I am new to Itunes and decided it would be good to try out the new series of Flashforward as an Itunes download. It is stated as 5.1 and even has a 5.1 sound option bubble but when you click the sound goes. I spent much of my own time working out why my computer wasn't working properly but after a while I found many, many comments on the web about Itunes NOT being able to process 5.1 sound properly since version 6! How can they possibly sell knowing this, and clearly not caring to fix it. It is immoral in my opinion... look at the amount of people who have bought new equipment or sent their PC's to a repair shop to sort this problem when it is Apple being completely ignorant of the consumer's real needs.

Frankly I would like my money back for both accounts... I would rather buy a studio quality CD and wait for the TV series to come out on Blueray... it's no wonder people pirate because by **** THEY actually WORK!

Importing problem? ...

Hello all.

I have recently had trouble importing tracks into the library. The imporing speed starts of normal, then sloooows down to around 0.1X, usually around the last two or three tracks.

I have had this problem maybe once or twice in a 15000 track library. Now I am attempting to import a set of spoken word discs and it has happened to ALL so far (about 10 and counting!) A couple of the discs I left importing overnight turned out ok, but now the slow importing tracks are full of clicks.

Most related problems I found on the net seem to describe the whole disc importing slowly, not only the end. I have changed the importing preferences around a bit, and it seemed to help on one disc, but not the rest.

Ok, I think that covers it. Suggestions are greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!!

I have bought lots of apple music but stupidly imported it as AAC rather than MP3. This menas I can't convert it.

If I burnt my protected songs to either a) a CD; b) MP3 CD could I then re-import into itunes as MP3?

If I did this would I lose quality?

I would try it for myself but need to buy a re-writer as my old re-writer broke and I just have a read-only CD drive int here at present

iTunes won't burn a usable audio CD ...

I have tried burning audio CD's in iTunes (since I can't do an MP3 one) and it will burn the CD's, but when I play them, they skip and freeze up and I end up having to do an End Task in iTunes to get it to go anywhere. I paid for this music, now I want to be able to listen to it somewhere other than my computer since my iPod has crapped out on me too. I am not happy with Apple. You would thinkt they could figure this out.

yes ... my computer and my external hard drive with backup was stolen! hundreds of songs purchased in ITunes store ... and yes of course I'm not able to download again? or am I wrong - what is the point of it??? how many backups do i have to do?

Back out 9 and got my CD burner working ...

After going through all the threads and not seeming to get anywhere, I finally got things working again. I had installed 9 and, of course, as with many of you, the CD burning stopped. I tried deinstalling, reinstalling, updating GEAR, etc, etc but no luck.

Finally, I did this (all based on a lot of different recommendations)...

I located the 8.2 download of iTunes using a Google search. I downloaded the installation routine to my hard drive but did not install it yet.

I deinstalled iTunes 9.01 and rebooted.

I did the cleanup of GEAR using this as a guide... http://www.gearsoftware.com/wiki/index.php?title=DRIVERS:_Windows_-_Updating,_removing,_64_bit_versions,_etc#Manual_Removal_.E2.80.93_32-bit rebooting each time it said to.

I installed 8.2 and used a previous but very current .itf file to load my library (press the shift key when starting iTunes and hold it down until you get prompted to select or create a new library).

I did this and my first tests didn't burn anything. I realized I was reusing CD's that I have tried to burn to but that hadn't seemed to work. Evidently something was on them because when I used a fresh one today, it worked.

One thing... currently I have 8x selected as the speed of burning based on an earlier recommendation. I don't know if I need to have that selected of the 'max speed'. I'll test that next time I need to burn a CD.

I'm currently trying to put my MP4 files into a program called Ableton for DJing, and I can only load the ones that seemingly don't have this "padlock" image on the upper left of the MP4 file. I put all the files I want to use into a separate folder, and when I open the folder, some of them show this image, and others do not. The ones that do won't show up in Ableton. Is there a way to unlock this? Or, if anyone knows Ableton, should I be switching them to MP3's to be able to use them?

I recently downloaded a book onto itunes and had a problem durning the initial attempt to burn it onto cd. I got 3 cd's in and had to redo it. When I got to the 5 cd on my second attempt, it said I reached my cd limit at 7. I didnt get the complete book. I attempted to call apple itunes support but the gentleman I spoke with was unable to help. Am I going to have to repurchase the book?

Is there any way, though, to import tv shows that I have recorded on Windows Media Center into itunes? I sometimes burn dvds from Windows Media Center so I can watch them without being at my computer.

Attempts to Add New Music Freeze ...

iTunes (9.0.1) Freezes on me now whenever I try and add new songs into it. I am not aware of when the problem started... mostly because I use iTunes only on a "need" basis (i.e. when I'm adding stuff).

Adding stuff from a Custom CD (formerly blank) causes it to freeze.
Adding stuff from a commercial CD (i.e. something you buy at the store with Music already on it) causes it to freeze.
Adding stuff to the computer and then trying to enter it into iTunes causes it to FREEZE.

I've reset the computer X many times; un-installed and RE-installed iTunes X many times... Checked the CD-Drive...bribed it with money...Tried to monitor it with Task Manager.... made death threats.... cleaned out old files...had computer virus checked... made MORe death threats...

All Futile. Help would be appriciated: I'm 90% sure this has got nothing to do with the computer; iTunes works the same until I try to add new stuff (i.e. playing music)

I have 60 cd's that do not seem to be found through gracenote. Is there a way when track names can not be found, I can actually search the gracenote database, find the album, and then add the details? I think you could do this in WMP, but for some reason, you can't in itunes. Will I have to use a different program, and if so, are there any recommendations. Audio cd's cancel after just beginning ...

So I am continuously having a major problem with burning audio cd's. When i originally burnt my first cd's i was using vista 32 bit and had the same type of computer. Since then my computer broke and I purchased a new one with 64 bit vista and thought i should be fine, well i was wrong now every time i go to burn cd's off of my playlist(i even tried old playlists that worked before)it begins and initializes the playlist then says burning and instantly stops and cancels. Here is a list of what i tried and my configuration for itunes. If i can get any help i would be ever so grateful because no one knows whats wrong at all

-checked cd to ensure it is blank
-tried multiple different blank cd's
-reinstalled itunes several times

Can't move music from ITunes to IPod ...

My daughter's Ipod kept getting the Firewire not supported message. I found online that I should save all of her music, then restore the Ipod. We did that, but I moved all of the music files from a flash drive to Itunes, then restored her Ipod. That seemed to fix the Firewire error, but now we can't load the majority of the music back onto the Ipod. It says the file cannot be found, there is an exclamation point in a circle next to the song name in Itunes when we try to drag and drop it onto her Ipod. Most of this music was wiped off the computer when we had a computer issue, but it was either purchased from Itunes or copied from a CD. I do have a file in the Previous Itunes Libraries folder, called 'iTunes Library 2007-10-04.itl'. There are a couple of later dated ones as well. Is there any way to get this music back on her Ipod?

When I import in onto itunes, it records it as Track 1, Track 2 etc, and not under 1 separate folder (i.e. like the rest of my CDs). iTunes Error -2048 -- Quicktime ...

Recently, I used Gazzump to download CNR as an .MP4 (video format) to put on my iPod. I tried to open the file using iTunes, but it acted as though nothing happened. Since iTunes is the default music player on my computer, I tried opening the file directly instead of importing it into iTunes. It then showed an error message, saying "Error -2048: Couldn't open the file Gazzump.com - HQ Weird Al Yankovic - CNR.mp4 because it is not a file Quicktime understands."

I looked around the internet and found that most people suggested downloading codecs in order to get the problem fixed. I'm trying to avoid that, however, because the last time I had to download codecs (which, coincidentally, was to use downloaded videos from Gazzump for Windows Movie Maker), they just slowed down my computer. I have since deleted these codecs.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I guess brackets and underscores are markup for this "forum." Well, there are supposed to be underscores surrounding "Weird Al" and brackets surrounding HQ, though I'm sure it doesn't matter.

Importing CD to I-tunes.... on track ...

Recently I have had internittant but unacceptable problems.
I have bought a new CD and played it on my stand alone player. I have played it on my portable player, I have played it in Wondows media player. All appear to work perfectly suggesting there is no problem with the disc.I have even chopped and changed which drive I put the CD in.When I import it into I-Tunes, to all intents and appearance it is successful but on my Ipod and within I-tunes I get a loud scratch/click noise and even found the recording sticking and repeating as I have mark on the disc (which is clean to the naked eye).I have transferred the original disc to a CDR and that plays OK everywhere. ANY IDEAS PLEASE?

I have named them Track01 and Track02 for each 'side' of the cassette. I want ipod to treat them as 'chapters' and remember my position when I turn ipod off.

I have installed and uninstalled Itunes 3 times. My problem is that is won't let me burn my purchased music to a CD. It tells me that driver didn't install to reinstall Itunes. That doesn't work. Is there any other way that I can burn my music to a CD such as using media player or some thing. Or is this a Vista issue?

Cannot Burn with lastest update. ...

I've burned lots of CD's from my PC using iTunes in the past. However, about 6 months ago, I ran into a problem where the CD/DVD player would 'disappear' and iTunes would tell me it couldn't find the software. At that point, the CD would not even show up in the 'My Computer' listing on the PC. Deinstalling the CD/DVD driver and rebooting would resolve this until the next time I tried it.

Now, after installing the latest version of iTunes (9.0.1.8) things have gotten much worse.

When I try to burn a CD everything proceeds as expected. I am told that the CD is being initialized, then the songs are being written and finally that it is being finalized. However, there's nothing on the CD when the process is done.

If I put a previously burned CD (one I did from iTunes) or another prerecorded CD, it reads it correctly and I can rip without a hitch. If I insert a blank CD, it never shows in the Devices section of the left panel in iTunes. I can click burn but after going through the steps, nada...

I've deinstalled the CD and rebooted to no avail. My PC can find the CD and can write to it without a problem. It is only iTunes that is getting confused.

Any ideas?

Hi -

I bought Pearl Jam's new CD "Backspacer" from their site. I tried to import into iTunes. iTunes will import the songs individually, but won't associate them as from the same single CD. I can apply sort fields to get them into a single CD and type in the artist name and album name. What bugs me now is that I can't add album art. Not sure why all of this effort is necessary. iTunes offers the CD. So, it isn't as if there is no record of the songs, album and art work. Can anyone help me with adding the album art? I've tried to copy and paste the art to Get Info. It will paste in that small window, but the art doesn't show up in Albums.

Merging iTune libraries on two separate ...

I am fairly new to Mac's and iTunes. If it is not breaking any of Apple or iTune rules, what is the easiest way to merge (transfer from one to another) two separate iTune music/music video libraries from one Mac laptop to another? Both libraries contain between 5k to 7k songs and about 50-100 music videos. My friend suggested using a flash drive, but I thought that at 4G a shot, that might be an excruciatingly slow process and headache. Any suggestions?

Slow import speed to iTunes external ...

I recently consolidated my iTunes to an external hard drive. Now, when I import a commercial audio CD the files download directly to this library. THe problem is that the import speed has been reduced GREATLY as compared to earlier import speeds when I was importing directly to my computer hard drive. Is there a simple way to revert to importing to the computer and then transferring the files to the iTunes library in the external drive so as to solve this problem?

Can somebody help me with the following?

When you import compilation CDs iTunes import the disc automatically in a compilation folder on your hard disc. Is there a possibility in choosing that folder name yourself? I have installed version 9 of the program and now the program uses the "compilations" folder where it used the Dutch version "verzamelingen" earlier. I have 2 different folders now. Btw the language is kept in dutch.

I was editing track information for a cd I imported by double clicking on the fields. Halfway through the cd, when I double clicked on the track, album, or artist name the track began to play and does not allow me to edit the track. Is there a way to enable this function again?

iTunes won't import whole CD ...

I am having a problem.
I am rebuilding my library from scratch, to replace my poorer quality MP3 files.

Every CD I attempt to import, it only rips one or two songs from the album.
iTunes tells me that the whole thing is imported fine, and all the songs show up, but only a few of them are actual songs.

Itunes Won't Burn Audio CD - Slow! ...

I have wasted nearly 10 CD-R's trying to get iTunes to burn an audio CD. I've burned cd's on this machine before with now problem. I think the issue started after I downloaded the 8.1 updates.

I can create a playlist and press "burn cd." It seems the CD is burning fine through the first track but after that it goes INSANELY SLOW and just stops in the middle of the 2nd track. I know it's not my driver, as I've been able to burn CD's from Windows Media Player...the problem with that is that MWP doesn't support the mp4 format. This is such a pain in the butt!

I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes about 5 times with no solution. Any help is greatly appreciated!

cannot burn cd's in itunes 9 ...

Every time I try to burn an audio cd I get the message "the attempt to burn a disc failed.The burn failed because of a medium write error". What is the problem is it itunes or is something wrong with my device?

I imported a CD just now using iTunes9 and it had prompted me to select the album information. I selected, of my 3 options, the one I thought was correct, but it ended up being half english and half japanese song names. How do you make iTunes ask you again for the album info when you import the same CD?

Recently, I got a new computer (laptop, Fujitsu Lifebook). I installed iTunes to it, but cannot transfer my old music to this computer. We took out the external harddrive bay and we can access all our other documents (Microsoft word and such) but our old music will not download to this computer!!! I tried just plugging my iPod in to this new computer, but it didn't do anything.

Can anyone please help me??? I really want to put some new stuff on my iPod but I can't!!!

Apple Lossless 24 bit ...

Hello,

I successfully imported a 24 bit / 192 kHz WAV into iTunes 9.0 and converted it to Apple Lossless format. Now I would like to convert my file back to its original format, however the WAV converter seems to be limited to 16 bit / 48 kHz formats. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

ex... disc big and rich has a few songs with multiple artists. so i try to make a compilation. cool, now it lists it as various artist. so i changed the album artist to big and rich. ding it works....kinda. now it only puts 11 songs on one album and the rest on another. it does this with all discs like that. how do i fix it? i know i can just change all the artist names to big and rich, however id like to keep the supporting artist info if possible.

i have about 600 albums from my old pc that i have in windows media and wav format. im bringing in the music from a portable hard drive. anyhow when i bring in the music it puts a disc with multiple artists into mutliple albums. i have no way to fix this problem.

example... bad boys II sound track. it shows up as 10 different albums. the only way to fix it is to put artist all as bad boys 2. now i have no idea who s actually singing the song. this is a problem with many albums from many artists.

windows media player had no problems what so ever with this. so why is itunes.

my next problem is that my album art i had all set up in windows media player is now gone. some is here some isnt. however windows media player had no problems finding the artwork.

and i cant be expected to run 600 discs through my cd drive again. not worth it!
so far i am 100% frustrated and unhappy with itunes. if it werent for being FORCED by apple to use it i wouldnt. now i have a new gen 5 ipod nano that is pretty much worthless as i cant get itunes to work and am very frustrated with it. itunes works and plays music and what not, but the organization is TERRIBLE!

ugghhh, ive never had so much frustration with any piece of software. i dont understand it

Just updated my iphone to run OS 3.1
After putting my songs back to iphone, some album name appear several times on iphone's album list. they all contain same track list under them.
In itunes, I tried renaming them hoping them to "merge" together but unsuccessful. Even in itunes, if I click to sort by album name, some songs are not in proper order. The album name is in Unicode. I guess it is something related to the same problem listed as "fixed" below??

Old computer was fried, couldn't backwards sync iPod to new computer. Now trying to import CDs into Library and it is adding each track as an item in the Library rather than the whole album or CD. I've tried it twice. This is so aggravating!!!

Today, I was at my friends house. He has about $100 worth of music and he let me slap it on a CD so I could put those songs on my new ipod. I went home, put the CD in my laptop, and imported everything.
I want to be clear when I say, everything works, songs play on my Ipod, BUT the names pop up as Track #X (x being 1-20). I watched the help video, and went to advance, clicked get CD track names, but then I get a message that says that the "information isn't available for some items". Some items meaning all items. I went through most of these and put the artist and song for as many as I could but everytime I play the song on my Ipod it comes up as track 6 instead of Don't Fear the Reaper. Is this fixable? Can I make these ******* tracks say something besides track 4 or whatever? Any help is much appreciated.

Importing sets "part of compilation" ...

I've just instaled iTunes 9.01 and have been importing about 5 CDs worth of music. The problem is that iTunes seems to be setting the "part of a compilation" flag every time even though none of the CDs I've been importing are compilations CDs.

I know that sometimes the gracenote database has the CD tracks incorrectly marked as compilations when they aren't on a compilation CD. But I've imported 5 CDs in a row and they've all been marked as compilations, so I am starting to wonder if iTunes is the one setting the compilation flag.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

The net effect is that after I import a CD, it doesn't show up in the genre/artist/album browser. Instead it shows up in the compilation list. So I end up having to go into the imported tracks and uncheck the compilation flag

This is made even worse by the fact that I can't select all of the tracks at once and open up the info because when you select multiple tracks and open up the info there is not "part of a compilation" flag that I can see. So I end up having to open up the tracks one at a time and unchecking he flags one at a time, which is a pain in the butt.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be very much appreciated!

Problem with iTunes 9 - unidentified ...

Hi all,

I'm new to this so please excuse me if I am going on a bit but this is my only hope of resolving my problem.

I upgraded to iTunes 9 in preparation for my new nano 5g which arrived yesterday but since upgrading I have lost loads of tracks that I was previously able to listen to. When I try to play it asks me to locate the music on my computer but I don't understand what I'm meant to do as I've never had this problem before.

Is this something that anyone can help me with as I'm very upset at the thought of having lost almost 5000 songs as you can imagine.

MSG:
"the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. this can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. please reinstall itunes."

i have even uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it, and i still cannot bur cds, and continue to get this msg EVERY time i try to go into itunes
